Belize LGBTIQ organizations leaders meeting with Belize Foreign Minister
20th August 2016: EYBM hosted its first ever gay pride in collaboration with Belize Family Life Association (BFLA). The event was held in the town of San Pedro on the island of Ambregris Caye, bringing the community together in unity and fun. A special appearance by B'Yanka Banks was a highlight of the evening.
The Supreme Court of Belize overturned the country’s sodomy law today.
The following photos show the church protest outside the court and the LGBTI community inside the court when Chief Justice Kenneth Benjamine struck down section 53 of the criminal code of Belize.
Code 53 banned “carnal intercourse against the order of nature,” therefore primarily targeting gay and bisexual men.

The Candle light vigil for people living with HIV was sponsored through the PEPFAR project funded by the US Embassy Belize through the US State Department. the project main target population is person living with HIV and focuses on delivering health tips and the importance of medication adherence, addressing nutrition, increasing prevention education interventions for HIV/STI, and advice on personal hygiene.
Currently EYBM is funded through The U.S. President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR). PEPFAR is the U.S. Government initiative to help save the lives of those suffering from HIV/AIDS around the world. This historic commitment is the largest by any nation to combat a single disease internationally, and PEPFAR investments also help alleviate suffering from other diseases across the global health spectrum. PEPFAR is driven by a shared responsibility among donor and partner nations and others to make smart investments to save lives.

Empower Yourself Belize Movement (EYBM) held an event to commemorate IDAHOT Day(International day against homophobia and trans-phobia ) in which member of the community was invited to the event to have a night filled of activities of fun and laughter. This event also bring together friends,family and allies of the LGBTI community. EYBM is a Belize NGO that works with People Living with HIV,sex workers, youth, lesbian,gay,bisexual,transgender, and intersex community.
